Coping with HIV/AIDS
in the Rural Southeast (CHASE)
An NIH grant that collected data
on HIV infected individuals in six predominantly rural Southern
states to learn more about psychosocial adaptation, utilization
of physical, mental and non-traditional health services, health
habits, attitudes about AIDS, and adherence to medical regimens
of HIV infected individuals in the South. For more information

Southern States Policy Project
Data was collected from six southern
states on the epidemiology of HIV and on state-level policies on
Medicaid eligibility for HIV-positive persons, partner notification,
HIV testing, and criteria for ADAP funding. Interviews were conducted
with all six state HIV/AIDS Directors, as well as a sample of Ryan
White CARE Act grantees in each state, on the unique needs, systems,
and structures of the southern states, compared with other US states.

Piedmont HIV Integrated Community Access System (PHICAS)
The
PHICAS project, funded in November 2003 through HRSA’s Bureau
of Primary Health Care, will develop a network of providers through
a six
county region to link and coordinate services for HIV-infected
person with or at high risk of contracting Hepatitis C. The region
served includes Durham, Vance, Warren, Franklin, Person, and Granville

BRIGHT
An NIH funded project at University of North Carolina at Chapel
Hill. We are working with this program through our training sector
to
identify and assist in meeting training needs. The program goal
is to develop and implement s strengths-based Case Management program
for HIV+ persons in NC prisons. They will be connected to Case
Managers who will meet and develop individual care plans that will
facilitate their release back into the communities. For more information
