Determinants and Consequences of Alcohol Abuse (Russia)
This Russia-based grant is funded through the NIH National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA). The study examines the effects of alcohol consumption on (1) individuals' preventive and risk behaviors associated with contracting HIV, (2) the probability of HIV positive individuals being prescribed HIV medications and adherence to such medication, (3) health status, and (4) health care utilization and costs, including barriers to accessing health care and insurance coverage. Treatment for Substance Abusing Women (Russia)
This is a study funded by NIMH and it examines the feasibility of integrative treatment model for mentally ill, pregnant women who are HIV-positive or at risk for HIV at our Alcohol Abuse research site in St. Petersburg, Russia. For more information contact Rachel Whetten.

Characteristics of Caregivers of Children Who Have Been Orphaned by HIV/AIDS
This NIH funded grant is based in four countries, India, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Tanzania. The focus is to understand child/orphan well-being through four domains including 1) pre-orphan life experiences and demographics; 2) the orphaning experience and the events that followed; 3) current living situation characteristics (including caregiver); and 4) cultural characteristics.
